Weekly homework planner
For families juggling homework across multiple subjects and children, this planner puts the whole week on one page. Print it, stick it on the fridge and tick off as homework is done.
Monday to Thursday
- Monday: list tonight's homework per subject, tick when done
- Tuesday: same, plus note any upcoming tests or deadlines
- Wednesday: same, flag anything the child is stuck on
- Thursday: same, plus check nothing was missed from earlier in the week
Friday to Sunday
- Friday: collect the weekend's homework list from the planner or app
- Saturday: tackle the longer tasks (essays, projects, revision)
- Sunday: final check, pack the school bag, rest
Tips for using the planner
- The child fills it in, not the parent (ownership matters)
- Parent checks at the same time each evening
- Blank rows by Thursday mean something was missed: ask, don't accuse
- Reward the streak, not individual pieces
Tutor tip: If homework is consistently taking too long or causing battles, the issue may be a knowledge gap rather than a discipline problem. That is where tutoring helps.
